Ticket to Fame – Fire Records
Decisive Pink is a supergroup collaboration between up and coming Russian electronica artist, Kate NV, and former Dirty Projectors vocalist, Angel Deradoorian, who already has had an established solo career. The results are fun, imaginative, and often eccentric. Everything you’d come to expect from this diverse duo that makes this record an entertaining collection of sweeping sound, vocal gymnastics, and odes to the quirky synths of the 80s.
The first track on the album, “Haffmilch Holiday,” has a vintage goth-synth that mixes in playful bleeps and bloops to give it an angular and dreamy feel. “Destiny,” track 4, has shades of a bouncy Siouxsie and the Banshees number, with their voices cradling the whimsy in the music. Track 10, “Dopamine,” brings some funky bass to the mix, with their voices channeling Bananarama, at times. “Ode to Boy,” track 3, features synth drums and an ethereal vocal harmony. Fans of Yazoo and Erasure will certainly hear the Vince Clarke stylings in the keyboard clanks. Tracks 6, 8, 9, and 11 are instrumental.
This is going to be an instant classic!
